Protein Expression team
The main focus of the Protein Expression team is to establish a robust expression platform for recombinant target proteins based on three cell systems, E. Coli, HEK293 and Baculovirus-insect cells.
The Protein Expression team is responsible for all steps from the sub-cloning of target proteins using ligation-independent cloning (LIC) and recombinant expression in both Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic hosts to purification of the target proteins using various tags. The platform is fully equipped to perform large scale expression experiments in all hosts up to 5-10 liter cultures. Standard protein purification is performed using immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC) or Twin-Strep-tactin purification and size exclusion chromatography (SEC). For custom purifications, ion-exchange chromatography (IEC) can also be applied. Purity is assessed using SDS PAGE, and identity is confirmed using mass spectrometry.
The platform offers training for CPR researchers in protein expression and purification.
